
Purpose
The Murphy House Fellowship Grant program was created to support individuals pursuing an educational degree or trade certification.
The grant encourages people in disadvantaged neighborhoods or challenging life situations to keep pressing forward.
Our staff is committed to the investment of education and service. No matter if you are attending a trade school, or trying to complete a doctoral program, this program was made help you complete your goals.
Type of grants
The Murphy House awards the following grants:
- Discovery Grant ($1,000.00)
- Fellowship Award ($2,000.00)
These grants are directly applied to school tuition, books, or room and board expenses. Subject to verification, award recipients will coordinate with the grant committee to ensure grants are applied to direct expenses for school according to grant guidelines.
Who is eligible?
Individuals who meet the following criteria are welcome to apply:
- Resident of the Roseland, Chicago, IL or Dunbar, Fort Myers, FL community
- Pursuing an educational opportunity at a trade school or bachelors, masters, or PhD degree
- US citizen
- Demonstrated financial need
- Must have a 2.5 GPA for undergraduate, 3.0 GPA for graduate and doctoral
Application and deadlines
Application process consists of a $25.00 fee along with the application, interview, and eligibility screening. Members and affiliated members through church partnership with the Murphy House receive an application fee waiver. Once award winners are selected, the committee will host an award ceremony and proceed with payment arrangements following the ceremony.
