What data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
We collect the data shown in comments, contact forms, and also the visitor’s IP address/browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to our website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms & Cookies
When you submit information into our contact forms, you agree to allow The Murphy House to contact you through email or phone call.
In submitting your contact information on our site, you are giving us the right to save your name, email address, and log-in information on our website through cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment or if you’re logged into our portal. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed and the process is restarted upon your next sign-on.
Embedded content from other websites
From time to time, there may be articles on this site which may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites.
External websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
The Murphy House is not responsible for external party tracking of data, but we will analyze the data and grant you the information needed connect with external website owners upon your written request.
Analytics
Who we share your data with
Your data is analyzed and managed mostly by Murphy House Administration. When you sign up for any online courses, you will create a profile on Canvas LMS. Information stored on the LMS is not saved in our system. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. In addition, our staff will verify information you submitted using contact form data when solving profile or account issues with our Website Engineers. Unless required by law, we do no share your information with anyone without your written consent.
The Murphy House is not responsible for any information gathered outside of the normal protocols stated above. If we find that your information has been compromised, we will let you know as soon as it is revealed to us and provide you with any tools we have available to assist you in recovering or protecting your data.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information provide in within a digital profile on our website. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. This information is held no more than 6 months after last access. However, we retain all personal information such as email, name, address, and phone number for up to three years.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, left any comments, or have an account on Canvas LMS through Murphy House, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
